Durham Academy follows the Ontario Ministry of Education requirements for courses, course content, hours of instruction, assessment and evaluation.

In a supportive setting, we provide our students with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) academic program to fully prepare them for the expectations of university studies.

In a small, supportive setting, our students benefit from specific academic skills, such as note taking, studying, test taking, research, academic writing and oral and multi-media presentations.

Both instruction and assessment will be individualized based on education, goals and personal learning styles.

Durham Academy operates on two terms.  All three of our schools boast excellent customer service and communication between teachers and parents on an ongoing basis.

Our academic team consists of Ontario Certified Teachers and specialists in their subjects who are dedicated to supporting students and maintaining the highest standard of academic excellence.  In addition to classroom work, learning will be enriched through;

  • Workshops

  • Field trips to cultural institutions

  • Introduction to swimming, skating and racquet sports

  • Connections with post-secondary institutions

We encourage each student to visit our school for a day, meet the principal and join their current grade to participate in a typical day.

We are accepting on-going applications for 2016-2017.  Prospective families should contact gbms@ymail.com or call 905-432-1400 to arrange a personal meeting and tour.

Admissions are offered throughout the year.

Choosing a school is a very important decision.  It is important for us to get to know each applicant and their family, and to offer you an opportunity to tour the school, visit the classrooms, and discuss your educational goals for your child.

At the beginning of your tour, you will meet the principal who will discuss the schools philosophy, its day to day schedule and your child’s specific needs.  The principal will take you on a tour of the school, introduce you to our faculty and answer any questions that you may have.
